Douglas Reeson, M.B.A., Chairman, CFO, & Secretary

Douglas Reeson, MBA, is an independent financial consultant with over 30 year’s experience as an officer and director of a number of junior public companies. Prior to 1991, he held a number of positions in the investment industry including the Executive Director of Listings for the Toronto Stock Exchange, Vice-President and Director of Davidson Partners, Midland Doherty & Yorkton Securities and, earlier, as an Investment Analyst at Burns-Fry. Douglas is financially literate and considered a financial expert. Mr. Reeson resides in Toronto and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from York University. He was elected to the Board in 2001.

Samuel Pelaez, MBA, MFin, CFA, President, CEO and Director

Samuel Pelaez, MBA, MFin, CFA, has dedicated the past decade to financing natural resource projects while serving as Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager at Galileo Global Equity Advisors, and as an analyst at US Global Investors. Samuel has been an early investor in numerous mining discoveries and has been an active participant in Canadian mining corporate transactions. Sam graduated from the Schulich School of Business with Distinction. He also holds a Masters in Finance degree from The University of Cambridge. He was a scholar of the Financial Leaders of Tomorrow Program at the PBOC Graduate School at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Samuel is a CFA charter holder and member of the Toronto CFA Society where he resides.

George Mannard, MScA,   Director

George Mannard, MScA, P.Geo, is a retired geologist with a stellar exploration record. George was credited with the Louvicourt base metal discovery in Val d’Or, Quebec as Senior Project Geologist for Aur Resources in 1989. He co-founded what is now Wesdome Gold Mines in 1994 with Conrad Hache and Murray Pollitt where he helped develop the Eagle River, Edwards, Mishi and Kiena gold mines as Vice President Exploration. This work was highlighted by the discovery of the high-grade Eagle River No. 7 and 300 zones in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and the high-grade Kiena Deep discovery in 2016. George has over 20 years Board and executive management experience; is financially literate; maintains Professional Geoscientist status; and is a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists. He graduated from Queen’s University (BSc honours, 1982) and McGill University (MScA, 1984). A long time resident of Val d’Or, Quebec, George now lives in Toronto.

 

Hamid Mumin, Ph.D, Director

Hamid Mumin, Ph.D. is a distinguished geologist and a professor in the Department of Geology at Brandon University. He is acknowledged for his expertise in Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS); gold; and Iron Oxide Copper-Gold (IOCG) deposit types. Earlier in his career, he worked as a mine, exploration and research geologist, and project manager in Canada, Africa and South America, and has participated in a number of resource discoveries and developments. He has worked on exploration and development of Gold, VMS, IOCG and a number of other deposit types. He joined Brandon University in 1995 where he teaches Economic Geology. Hamid has published numerous papers and technical reports on economic geology, and is co-editor of “Ore Mineral Atlas”, a bestselling book of the Geological Association of Canada, and is co-editor of “Exploration for Iron Oxide Copper-Gold Deposits: Canada and World Analogues”. Hamid is also a Past-President of Geoscientists Canada. He was appointed to Gossan’s Board in 2015.

MaryAnn Mihychuk, MSc, PC,   Director

Hon. MaryAnn Mihychuk, MSc, PC, formerly a federal Minister of Employment and a Manitoba Minister of Mines, is an experienced geologist and is active with the Manitoba Prospectors and Developers Association. MaryAnn who is based in Winnipeg, has held numerous management and board positions at the local, provincial and federal level as well as in the private sector, including being a former executive of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.  MaryAnn was elected to the Board in 2020 and was previously a director of Gossan from 2009 to 2015.

James C. Campbell, Advisory Board – Stakeholder Relations

James C. Campbell has had a long involvement with the mineral exploration sector in Manitoba. Mr. Campbell is based in Winnipeg and a recently retired, aviation executive and commercial pilot. Jim was previously a director of Gossan from 2017 to 2021. 

Jordan Black, P.Eng, Advisory Board – Technical Group

Jordan Black, P.Eng., is a Geotechnical Engineer, with 10 years of consulting engineering experience and currently works for WSP Canada Inc. Jordan has been a consulting engineer for various infrastructure, renewable energy and mining projects and has provided leadership, design solutions, and project management. Jordan was previously Vice President of Business Development at GoldSpot Discoveries Inc. and the Vice President of Investments at ThreeD Capital Inc. At ThreeD Capital he provided investment strategies for management, helped structure private placements and raise capital for small to medium size companies. GoldSpot is a technology company that leverages artificial intelligence to reduce capital risk while working on increasing success rates in resource exploration. Jordan also works with and provides management for several early stage technology and blockchain companies.

Mitch Vanderydt, P.Eng, MBA, Advisory Board – Technical Group

Mitch Vanderydt, P.Eng., M.B.A., has more than 12 years of diverse experience in the metals and mining sector, primarily in the areas of engineering and capital markets. He is currently employed as an equity research analyst covering uranium, battery metals, and precious metals developers and producers. Prior to transitioning to the capital markets in 2019, Mitch filled project management and geotechnical-mining engineering roles focused on design, permitting, and construction of open pits, waste dumps, tailings dams, and water management systems. Mitch has contributed to numerous engineering, economic, and environmental studies, and has visited about a dozen development and production mine sites across the Americas for data collection and construction purposes. He holds a B.E.Sc. from Western University, a mining-and-finance-focused M.B.A. from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and a P.Eng licence in Ontario.
